A General Banking Officer (GBO) plays a vital role in ensuring smooth branch operations and delivering excellent customer service. The role involves managing account-related processes, handling customer queries and complaints, performing non-financial transactions, and supporting administrative and operational activities within the branch. The position also requires maintaining inventory records, safeguarding security stationery, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations and internal procedures.
šÆ Key Responsibilities

Deliver efficient and high-quality customer service in line with branch service standards and performance indicators.

Perform operational tasks across various segments of branch banking at maker/inputter level.

Manage account opening and related activities such as dormancy marking/removal, stop payment handling, account closures, loan account processing, deceased customer updates, and level migrations for Core Banking and JazzCash customers.

Assist in Gold Loan assessments and maintain related documentation.

Process all non-financial transactions accurately as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Prepare and submit operational reports to the Customer Services Manager (CSM) and Head Office.

Handle customer queries and complaints, providing timely and effective solutions within defined turnaround times (TAT).

Cross-sell banking products and guide walk-in customers towards appropriate banking services.

Maintain and update operational registers, records, and reconcile Sundry and Suspense accounts.

Scan and upload SS cards daily and process clearing instruments including return marking.

Manage issuance, destruction, and balancing of cheque books, Bankerās Cheques, and Term Deposit Receipts (TDRs).

Act as custodian for cheque books, ATM cards, keys, and official stamps as per SOPs.

Support teller operations when required, including cash deposits, withdrawals, sorting, balancing, and counterfeit note identification.

Ensure proper cash transfer between till and vault at start and end of day and maintain all cash-related registers and reports.

Verify fixed asset inventory annually through physical checks and reconcile asset registers.

Provide administrative support to branch management in coordination with CSM and Branch Manager.

Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Line Manager.

Bachelorās degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant banking or financial services experience.

Strong customer service, operational accuracy, and compliance awareness.
