A General Banking Officer (GBO) is responsible for delivering efficient customer service and managing day-to-day banking operations at the branch level. The role involves handling account-related processes, customer interactions, and non-financial transactions while ensuring compliance with banking regulations and internal SOPs.
Key Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service in line with defined service quality standards

Handle account opening, maintenance, and closure processes
-
Process non-financial transactions accurately (e.g., stop payments, dormancy updates, SOA issuance)

Manage customer queries and complaints within defined turnaround time (TAT)
-
Guide walk-in customers and promote bank products through cross-selling

Prepare and submit operational reports to Branch/Head Office
Operations & Compliance:
-
Maintain and update records, registers, and documentation
-
Reconcile sundry and suspense accounts regularly
-
Ensure compliance with banking policies and procedures
-
Scan and upload required documents on a daily basis
Cash & Teller Support:
-
Act as backup teller when required
-
Process cash deposits, withdrawals, and clearing transactions

Ensure cash balancing at end of day

Identify and report counterfeit currency
-
Maintain cash-related reports and registers
Inventory & Administration:

Assist in annual physical verification of fixed assets
-
Act as custodian of security stationery, cheque books, ATM cards, and related items

Support branch administration in coordination with Branch Manager (BM) / Customer Services Manager (CSM)
Additional Duties:

Participate in gold loan assessments
-
Handle deceased account cases and refunds
-
Perform any additional tasks assigned by line management
Eligibility Criteria
-
Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution (relevant field preferred)

Minimum 2 years of relevant banking experience
