The General Banking Officer (GBO) is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and managing day-to-day branch banking operations. The role includes handling account-related processes, non-financial transactions, customer queries, and administrative responsibilities while ensuring strict compliance with banking regulations and SOPs.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
🧾 Branch Operations & Customer Service

Provide efficient customer service aligned with defined service quality standards

Handle walk-in customers, resolve queries, and guide them to appropriate banking services
-
Cross-sell bank products and services
🏦 Account Management & Processing
-
Manage account opening, closing, and maintenance processes
-
Handle dormancy marking/removal, stop payments, and account updates
-
Process loan account opening/closing and assist in Gold Loan assessments
-
Manage deceased customer case processing and refunds
📊 Transactions & Reporting
-
Perform all non-financial transactions accurately as per SOPs
-
Prepare and submit reports to Branch Management and Head Office
-
Monitor service indicators and ensure targets are met
📁 Records & Compliance
-
Maintain registers, records, and documentation up to date
-
Reconcile sundry and suspense accounts
-
Ensure scanning and uploading of documents (e.g., SS cards)
-
Process clearing instruments and manage returns
💰 Cash & Teller Operations
-
Act as backup Teller when required
-
Process cash deposits, withdrawals, and cheque transactions
-
Ensure cash balancing at end of day (system vs physical cash)
-
Handle counterfeit note identification and reporting
-
Maintain teller records, vault position, and SBP reports
🗄️ Inventory & Administrative Duties
-
Conduct annual physical verification of fixed assets
-
Maintain fixed asset registers and reconcile discrepancies
-
Act as custodian of security stationery, cheque books, ATM cards
-
Support administrative operations in coordination with Branch Manager/CSM
⚙️ Additional Duties
-
Ensure compliance with SBP policies and internal SOPs
-
Perform fund transfers (FT/TT) and clearing entries accurately
-
Handle customer complaints within defined TAT
-
Perform any additional tasks assigned by Line Manager
🎯 Eligibility Criteria
-
Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution (relevant field preferred)
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant banking experience
-
Strong customer service and communication skills
-
Knowledge of branch operations and banking procedures
