Mobilink Microfinance Bank is seeking a Verification Officer to support branch business targets while maintaining prudent credit risk standards. The position is responsible for reviewing loan applications, conducting pre-approval and post-disbursement verifications, assessing borrower creditworthiness, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and supporting sound credit decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Review loan files independently for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with credit policies.
Identify discrepancies and ensure rectification before further processing.
Participate in Branch Credit Committee meetings and provide independent recommendations on loan approvals or rejections.
Maintain MIS records of loan applications received, processed, and rejected.
Analyze and consolidate reasons for loan rejections and share findings with relevant stakeholders.
Conduct pre-approval verification through physical visits or telephone verification, where applicable.
Verify borrowers, businesses, addresses, reputation, creditworthiness, and repayment capacity.
Assess the applicant's understanding of the business and intended use of the loan.
Verify credit history through CIR and applicable prudential regulations and credit procedures.
Conduct sample-based post-disbursement verifications and report findings to management.
Identify serious compliance issues and immediately report observations to line management.
Ensure adherence to credit policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Support branches in implementing changes to credit policies and procedures.
Ensure required exceptions are properly obtained and documented before approval.
Coordinate with branch management to improve loan rejection rates and promote best practices.
Provide functional training and capacity-building sessions to branch staff on credit assessment and monitoring.
Physically verify goldsmith credentials before onboarding them onto the branch panel.
Conduct quarterly verification of goldsmiths and submit verification reports to Head Office.
Supervise the gold auction process.
Perform other assignments as directed by the Line Manager.

Education:
Bachelor's degree from a reputable institution in:
