HBL is seeking a Cyber Security Research Specialist to contribute to cybersecurity research, innovation, threat analysis, and the development of advanced security solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Advance the current state-of-the-art in cybersecurity-related topics.
- Analyze and assess cybersecurity technologies, solutions, developments, and processes.
- Support cybersecurity capacity-building initiatives, including awareness, theoretical and practical training, testing, mentoring, supervision, and knowledge sharing.
- Assist in developing innovative cybersecurity-related solutions.
- Conduct experiments and develop proofs of concept, pilots, and prototypes for cybersecurity solutions.
- Conduct research, innovation, and development activities across cybersecurity-related topics.
- Contribute to cutting-edge cybersecurity business ideas, services, and solutions.
- Identify cross-sectoral cybersecurity achievements and apply them in different contexts or develop innovative approaches and solutions.
- Lead or participate in innovation processes and projects, including project management and budgeting.
- Generate and develop research and innovation ideas.
- Publish and present scientific works and research and development results.
- Select and apply appropriate frameworks, methodologies, standards, tools, and protocols, including building and testing proofs of concept to support projects.
People Management
- Provide mentoring and technical coaching to junior analysts, interns, and detection engineers.
- Support the development of skills in malware analysis, exploit fundamentals, and threat research methodologies.
- Collaborate with Digital Banking, IT Development, Architecture, Fraud Risk, and Operations teams.
- Share emerging threat intelligence and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or Management Information Systems (MIS).
- Preferably one or more of the following professional certifications:
- GREM (GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware)
- GCTI (GIAC Cyber Threat Intelligence)
Minimum Experience
- 4–7 years of overall relevant experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in threat research, reverse engineering, or detection engineering.
- Banking or fintech industry exposure is preferred.

- Legal, regulatory, and legislative requirements related to the release or use of cybersecurity technologies.
- Multidisciplinary aspects of cybersecurity.
- Responsible information disclosure procedures.
