Salary tax questions

How much tax is deducted from salary in 2026-27?

Salary up to Rs 600,000 a year (Rs 50,000 a month) is tax-free. Above that the rates are 1%, 11%, 20%, 25%, 29%, 32% and 35% on successive slabs, under the Finance Act 2026. For example, a Rs 100,000 monthly salary pays Rs 500 a month and Rs 200,000 pays Rs 13,000 a month.

What changed in the 2026-27 tax slabs?

Rates fell for annual incomes above Rs 2.2 million: the 23% slab became 20%, the 30% slab became 25%, and new 29% and 32% slabs were added so the 35% rate now starts at Rs 7 million instead of Rs 4.1 million. The 9% surcharge on incomes above Rs 10 million was abolished. Incomes below Rs 2.2 million pay the same as last year.

Is there a salary increase for private employees in 2026-27?

There is no automatic increase for private-sector staff; raises depend on your employer. The legal floor is the minimum wage, which provinces revise each year. Enter your expected raise in the calculator to see how much of it reaches your take-home pay after tax.

What is the minimum wage in Pakistan in 2026-27?

Sindh announced Rs 43,000 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs 45,000 a month in their 2026-27 budgets. Punjab's last notified rate is Rs 40,000. The federal budget announced a 10% increase for Islamabad; check the table on this page for the status of each province.

Is provident fund deducted before tax?

No. Your own provident fund contribution comes out of your salary after tax, so it lowers take-home pay but not the tax. Your employer's contribution is a separate benefit and is not part of the gross salary entered here.

Which allowances are tax-exempt?

Only allowances the law exempts — for example, medical allowance up to 10% of basic salary where no free medical treatment is provided. Your payslip or HR department can confirm which amounts your employer treats as exempt; enter that total in the optional field.
