Why your raise is bigger than 7% — but not 25%
Some websites add 25% for the merger and 7% on top. That double-counts: the 2022 and 2025 reliefs were already in your salary. Moving them into basic pay changes the label, not the total.
What actually increases your pay:
- The 7% relief is calculated on the new, bigger basic — so it equals about 8.4% of your old basic pay.
- Conveyance rises 50% for federal employees.
- Your 1 December increment is now larger, because BPS-2026 increments are about 20% higher.
Example — BPS-16, 10 increments (federal): old basic Rs 50,670 + reliefs Rs 10,250 → new basic Rs 60,920. The 7% relief adds Rs 4,264 and conveyance adds Rs 2,500, a total of about Rs 6,764 a month before tax.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the salary increase in budget 2026-27?
Federal employees get a 7% Ad-hoc Relief Allowance-2026 on their new BPS-2026 basic pay from 1 July 2026, plus a 50% rise in conveyance allowance. Because the new basic pay is bigger, the 7% works out to roughly 8.4% of the old basic pay. KP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab also announced 7% increases.
Have the basic pay scales been revised in 2026?
Yes. The Finance Division notified Basic Pay Scales 2026 on 21 July 2026 (O.M. F.1(2)IMP/2026). They merge the 2022 (15%) and 2025 (10%) ad hoc relief allowances into basic pay, effective 1 July 2026.
Does the merger of ad hoc allowances increase my take-home pay?
Not by itself. The two allowances you were already drawing move into basic pay, so the total stays about the same. Your actual gain is the new 7% relief (calculated on the larger basic), the conveyance increase, and a bigger annual increment from 1 December.
How do I find my stage in the pay scale?
Your stage is the number of annual increments you have earned since the minimum of your scale. Your June 2026 payslip shows your basic pay — pick the matching amount in the stage list. Employees fitted into BPS-2026 stay at the same stage.
When will the annual increment be given?
Annual increments continue on 1 December each year. On 1 December 2026 you move up one stage in the BPS-2026 scale.
How much is the pension increase in 2026-27?
Federal pensions rise 7% on the baseline pension from 1 July 2026, including family pensions and retired armed forces personnel. Punjab announced 3.5% and Sindh 5% (per cabinet approval). Use our pension calculator to see your new pension.
I work in the private sector. Which calculator should I use?
Private-sector salaries are not set by BPS scales, so there is no automatic 7% increase. Use our private sector salary and tax calculator to see your income tax, take-home pay and the effect of a raise under the 2026-27 slabs.
Is the 7% relief counted for pension or house rent?
No. Ad-hoc Relief Allowance-2026 is taxable but is not treated as emoluments for pension, gratuity or house rent recovery, and it is not paid during posting abroad.
