Credit Analyst - Commercial Risk

HBL is seeking a qualified and experienced Credit Analyst - Commercial Risk to analyse and evaluate credit proposals, assess financial risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and support effective credit decision-making.

The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating corporate and branch banking credit proposals, identifying potential risks, monitoring credit facilities, and supporting the Risk Management function.

Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Analysis

• Perform credit analysis of proposals originating from Corporate and Branch Banking, covering retail and commercial segments.

• Evaluate qualitative and quantitative factors, including balance sheets, income statements, cash cycles, cash flows, and financial ratios.

• Assess financial requirements and repayment capacity to support effective credit decisions.

2. Credit Evaluation

• Evaluate credit proposals in accordance with HBL's internal credit policies and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) prudential regulations, guidelines, and other regulatory requirements.

3. Turnaround Time (TAT)

• Process credit proposals within stipulated turnaround times.

• Maintain credit proposal tracking logs, including queries and response times.

• Ensure timely processing of credit requests.

4. Risk Assessment & Value Addition

• Identify early warning signals during the credit evaluation process.

• Highlight key risks and appropriate mitigants.

• Guide the Business Team regarding suitable credit facilities and security structures while safeguarding the Bank's interests.

5. Credit Monitoring

• Monitor and follow up on overdue mark-up, principal payments, and Non-Performing Loan (NPL) accounts.

• Track expiries, deferrals, and approval covenants through internal MIS and Classified Credit Reviews (CCRs).

• Coordinate with business teams to ensure effective monitoring.

6. MIS & Record Management

• Prepare MIS reports, tracking sheets, and review documents.

• Assist in preparing industry reviews, sector reports, NPL reports, and restructuring-related reports.

• Maintain records of reports, MIS, and projects.

• Represent Risk Management in relevant projects.

7. Training & Support

• Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to new staff and Management Trainees.

• Support supervisors in maintaining smooth workflows, timely processing, and effective decision-making.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• Business Degree, preferably BBA or MBA.

• Minimum 16 years of education (Bachelor Honours).

Experience:

- 2–3 years of banking or risk management experience is required.
